"Following the terrorist attacks perpetrated against the United States of America, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali conveyed a message of condolences to US President George W. Bush.
‘I have learned with deep sadness and great shock of the criminal attacks against the United States of America, which caused many innocent casualties,’ said President Ben Ali in his message.
He added, ‘on this painful occasion, I would like to convey to you, to the American people and to the families of the victims, in my own name and that of the Tunisian government and people, my deepest condolences and my most sincere feelings of sympathy. I would like to reaffirm the condemnation by Tunisia of these terrorist acts that run against all basic human values, and renew the expression of my sincere condolences and sympathy.’
