Dear Mr. President:
I was deeply shocked by the unprecedented terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York and Pentagon which lead to thousands of victims.
We have witnessed for the first time such a merciless and monstrous action of international terrorism, and the criminals must not be forgiven either on earth or in heaven.
I pray to God that the criminals are found and punished as soon as possible.
We, the people of Kyrgyzstan, share the grief of the tragedy with you and all American people and deeply mourn over the numerous casualties.
It is imperative to strengthen international cooperation in combating this global evil without frontiers and nationalities in order to prevent the repetition of what has happened.
I convey my deepest condolences to the relatives of those who passed away. Let their souls rest in peace. We are together in this moment of trial.
With deep sorrow,
[Signed] Askar Akayev President of the Kyrgyz Republic
